John Baldessari Pure Beauty at the METROPOLITAN MUSEUM
James Kalm battles Manhattan's morning traffic and peddles ten miles to the Met for the press preview of "Pure Beauty" a major retrospective of John Baldessari. Giving up painting to explore photo and text based conceptual work in the mid sixties, Baldessari has become one of the most influential artists of the past twenty-five years. This two part video features his early paintings, text works, video and the first part of a extended Q&A session dealing with his relation to and influence by Structuralist films of the 1970s.
