Pia Fries, born in Beromünster in 1955, studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy after attending the Lucerne School of Applied Arts, where she was a master student of Gerhard Richter. She taught for many years as a professor in Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Munich and exhibited internationally. With the exhibition "farbwirtschaft im fleckenhaus" (color economy in the Fleckenhaus), Pia Fries presents a broad range of her work for the first time in her hometown of Beromünster. In doing so, she enters into an artistic dialogue with the historic Haus zum Dolder. She engages with the rooms and combines selected works with exhibits from the important collection of Dr. Edmund Müller. The catalogue expands on the exhibition in many ways: It traces Pia Fries's artistic development and offers biographical insights. It also accompanies her on a personal walk through Beromünster, highlighting traditional crafts and local color heritage.
